Hawaiian Festival

This is the last time Amarah will wear her newborn onesie's and I am so sad. She has grown so fast it is unreal.

At least this skirt is a newborn size, but the onesie is a 3 month. 

Today we went to the Hawaiian festival here in town and walked around for a little bit. Alayah liked watching the dancers.

After the festival we went to a local restaurant called Bahama Breeze and had dinner. I was exhausted by the time we got home. 

Lazy day

We just hung around the house today. Actually, we just laid in bed all day. Amarah is eating a lot more today so I can't get much done and Alayah has been content to hang out in her room. Amarah was smiling so much today in her sleep. It was so cute, but I couldn't catch any of them on camera. She is too quick for me. She is going to have the cutest smile because she sticks her tongue out while she smiles. I could just eat her up. I left her with my mom for about 30 minutes today so I could take Alayah to blockbuster to pick out a movie. I thought she could use some alone time. It was hard leaving Amarah, but I'm glad that I got some special time with Alayah.

Going to the Park

I walked with the girls down to the park today so Alayah could play for a little bit. She had lots of fun and Amarah enjoyed sleeping in her carseat. We all needed a little bit of sun since we've been stuck in the house most of the time. 

Adorable

3 Weeks Old

Oh my goodness how is it that you are 3 weeks old already. Looking at these pictures I can't believe how chubby you have gotten. 

You still wake up every 2-3 hours at night time and you seem to have your longest sleeping times during the day. We are going to need to work on that. You love to eat and only fuss when you are hungry. Mommy loves to hold you all the time. You are so fun to snuggle with. Your big sister likes to help out with you and she likes to try to comfort you when you are crying. She will stop what she is doing to come tell me you are upset. 

You are starting to outgrow your newborn clothes and your newborn diapers. Mommy is not ready for that yet, so you need to slow down okay :) I did finally get you to take a pacifier so hopefully that will help curb your need to suck on me all the time.

Making some visits

Today we went and visited my friend who is interested in watching Amarah when I go back to work. We stayed for a couple of hours just talking and hanging out. Afterward we went to visit Amarah's paternal grandparents for the first time. They were really excited to meet her. It was awkward for me because I haven't seen them since before I got pregnant, but I tried not to think about any of that stuff. I did finally finish Alayah's hair and I'm glad it is all finished. 

homework schmomwork

I literally spent all day today doing homework with baby girl in my lap. Alayah went with my parents to run errands so I could get some of my homework finished. It is so hard to do it when I'm by myself with both girls. One of them always needs something and all my homework is timed. I can't wait for this semester to be over. 

How can it be

This outfit used to be Alayah's. It barely fits Amarah at 3 weeks and Alayah wore it at 2.5 months. How is it my little baby girl is growing past what her sister was. I want her to stay little. Today we met up with my co-teacher from work and had some lunch together. It was nice to get out of the house. It rained all day today too which I loved. It makes laying around in bed seem normal lol

Almost done

Every baby needs pictures in their air jordan attire right lol. I still haven't been able to finish Alayah's hair, but I hope it will be all done by tomorrow. It will be nice not to have to do it for several weeks...at least I hope it lasts a few weeks. 

Alayah fell asleep while I was doing her hair so I laid Amarah in her arms so I could get a picture. Alayah really loves her sister and is so gentle with her.

Sisters

I decided to do some of Alayah's hair last night, but I only got one side finished. It is really hard to find time to braid nowadays. The baby always needs something once I get started. I can't wait to figure out our new groove.

Stick legs

I love how she sleeps with her legs sticking straight out and they stick up a little in the air.  It is so stinking cute. I love this little girl so much. The days are starting to mix together now so I can't remember what we did when. I think that we just hung out around the house today and relaxed.

2 Weeks Old

Amarah you are two weeks old today. I can't even remember how small you were when you came home because you have gotten so big already. Your face if fuller and your chub is starting to show up everywhere. You love to eat. You eat about every three hours and you eat for about 10 to 15 minutes on one side and then you take about a 20-30 minute break and then start on the other side. You have pretty much outgrown the preemie diapers and I am starting to put you in the newborn size. I still have a few preemie sizes I am trying to use up, but you tend to explode out of them and I have to change your clothes.You sleep for 3-4 hour stretches at night. I can't wait until we can get you to go a little longer because mommy is really tired. :) You took a bath with mommy today and you seem to like taking one with me much better than you do in your baby bathtub. I love snuggling with you and wish that I could just lay snuggling you all day long. I love you so much and I don't know how we made it without you.

Easter 2012

Easter was wonderfully different this year. Mainly because of a sweet little addition to my family, but also because this year Alayah wasn't stuck in the hospital. 

Alayah went on an egg hunt around the back yard and was pretty excited with her hot wheels cars and animals hidden inside the eggs. After the egg hunt we headed out to eat and then down to the strip to walk around in the nice weather. We stopped at the Coca Cola factory and tried different pop from around the world. Alayah says she wants to go back and taste the flavors again.

Easter 2012

It was also Amarah's first trip to the strip so it deserved a picture.

Egg hunt

Today we went to the park near our house for an egg hunt. There were lots of people there and Alayah got a little overwhelmed. She was too scared to go get eggs and pretty much cried the whole time. I don't know why she gets so apprehensive in new situations, but I hope she outgrows it soon. Amarah enjoyed the stroller ride on the way to the park asleep. :)

Amarah's first bath

Amarah had her first bath today. Her stump fell off on Monday, but today was the first day her dad could come  by to be a part of it. I let him do the honors so I could film and take pictures. She hated the entire bath. She screamed and screamed....it was so sad. I hate hearing her cry. I think I will give her baths with me for awhile in hopes that she won't cry as much. Alayah liked baths with me much better so maybe Amarah will be the same way. 

After Amarah's dad left we headed to the mall to get pictures done with the Easter bunny. The line was long and Alayah was restless, but luckily Amarah slept the whole time. I'm so excited to celebrate holidays with both my girls now. I can't wait until Mother's Day.

1 Week Appt

I took baby girl to the doctors today for her 1 week appointment. She weighed in at 7lbs 3oz! That is almost a pound in a week. My baby girl isn't going to be very little for very long. I can't believe she put on so much weight. I could tell she was getting heavier and I started to notice a double chin growing lol. They also pricked her foot for the PKU test while we were there. It was so sad. I hate hearing her cry. She sticks her little bottom lip out and it breaks my heart. Alayah was funny because she wanted to make sure that the appointment was not for her and that she would not be getting any shots. She doesn't like to hear her sister cry because it is too loud, so she was worried about her getting poked. I still can't believe I have two girls now. I still haven't adjusted to my new normal yet. I hope I can get everything balanced out soon. Sometimes I feel like I'm not giving Alayah enough, yet Amarah requires so much right now. I do know that I love both girls soooo much :)

Lovely Wednesday

We just hung around the house today. I gave Amarah a bath with me in the bathtub today because she puked all over herself and had a blow out. I hope she feels okay. She didn't cry during the bath with me which is great because she doesn't even like getting a sponge bath. She doesn't like being messed with. :) I love being able to just snuggle my baby all day long. Alayah is really enjoying having a sister and likes to hold her, but not for very long. 

Newborn Photo Session

Today was Amarah's newborn photo session. I am so excited to see how the pictures turn out. The appointment was about four hours and I was only allowed to feed her during that time so she would stay asleep and not want me. I really missed her during that four hours even though I was just on the other side of the room. I would much rather hold her than lay her somewhere while she sleeps. Alayah and I watched movies until it was our turn to be in some of the pictures. Alayah was a little bit more difficult to photograph this time around. She was too interested in being silly and running around. Hopefully the photographer got some good shots of us all together. 

1 Week Old

Today you are one week old. I can't believe this time last week I was in the hospital meeting you for the first time. This last week has had lots of sleep and snuggles in mommy's bed getting to know you. You eat a lot and seem to like to just suck on my breast just to suck. I have washed you down with a wash cloth and you hated it. 

You don't like when mommy wipes the front part of your diaper area. It makes you mad every time. You are so teeny tiny and I love to just sit and look at you and all of your little features. You love to stick your tongue between your lips and let it hang there. It is so funny. Your stump is about to fall off and I hope it can make it through tomorrow for your newborn pictures. You are still wearing preemie diapers and you are drowning in your newborn clothes. 

Today we have to take Nana to the airport because she is heading back to Wyoming. Tomorrow will be my first day alone with both of you girls so go easy on mommy and sleep really good at night.

Sleepy

That is how mommy feels too. Tomorrow my gma is leaving and I will be on my own. I hope I am ready for this single parenting thing. It's going to be hard doing everything on my own. I'm definitely going to miss sleep. I am excited to get my new life started with me and the girls though. Today we went and grabbed a bite to eat, but again I just hung out around the house with the girls because I am still a little sore and don't have a lot of energy. Alayah likes to ask to hold her sister, but after like two seconds she is done and wants to go play. She is so funny.

Birthday Party

Today we went to a birthday party for Alayah's best friend Danielle. It was a little hard for me because I pretty much had to deal with Amarah the whole time, so I missed out on doing the activities with Alayah. She didn't seem to notice or care, but I did and it made me sad. I really hope I can get this balancing act figured out. The girls looked really cute in their dresses for the party. How has it been 5 days already. I want time to slow down.

Two sleepy girls

I love having two girls in my bed now. It seems like this is the way it should have always been. Although there isn't much room for me anymore lol. I am trying to get Amarah to sleep in her bassinet, but so far I am not having any luck. She is just like Alayah in the fact that she sleeps best in my arms or at least touching me in some form. 

Sunshine

I forgot how sore I could be after giving birth. I hurt so much I just want to lay in bed and not move. I took Amarah to the doctor today and she weighed 6lbs 12 oz. She left the hospital at 6lbs 4oz. It is good to know that she is getting enough to eat. 

We went to the Rio buffet to eat tonight and it was rough on me to stand in line for over an hour. My body hurts so bad. The doctor said she was a little yellow so she spent some time hanging out in the sun today.

First wash down

So glad to be spending our first day at home. I gave Amarah her first sponge bath. She didn't like it so much, but she smells so good now. Her little feet have so much dry skin on them. I can't wait until she gets all her smooth baby soft skin. She still has her arm and foot band on and I don't want to take them off yet lol. 

An Alayah quote " Mom I think her foot is growing. Look how big my foot is too. That means you need to have another baby!" Hah...this girl is funny

Home

We finally got released from the hospital around 6pm. I was so ready to get out of there. My body hurts and  I am so tired. 

Amarah pretty much spent the day attached to my breast. Every time a nurse came in to see how she was doing she was eating. All the hair bows and hats I brought are way to big on her little head, so I guess she won't be wearing home any fancy attire. 

She looks so tiny in her car seat. Alayah will be excited to have me home and I will be glad to be in my own bed and have access to both my girls. Alayah got to spend the day with Nana since she flew in last night. Alayah is still getting used to her new sister. She wants to hold her, but gets a little nervous once she is holding her. I can't wait to see these two grow together. 

Just the two of Us

Tonight is our last night being just the two of us. Tomorrow night at 8pm I will head to the hospital to be induced. Knowing when my life will change makes it much harder than going into labor on my own. I am sad to lose what I've had the last 4 years. Alayah and I have been two peas in a pod and each others best pals. We snuggle every night and have great fun together. I am scared for that to change and sad at the same time. I am excited to add another member to our family, but I am scared of the future. I am scared of how I am going to manage two little girls and how I am going to make sure that Alayah doesn't feel left out or replaced. I hope she embraces being a big sister and loves all that comes with it. I hope that I can be the mom both girls need. Life is changing for us in the blink of an eye and I just pray that God is with us the whole way and can bring me peace in all my worries.
